Luxury Interior Designer Specializing in Entertaining Spaces in Indy & Center Grove areas

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
For the past eight years, I’ve had the privilege of working with
homeowners who want more than just a decorated room. They want a home that
feels effortless, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed around how they live.
My projects often involve remodeling or transforming spaces that have
untapped potential — particularly basements, living rooms, and gathering areas
that can become the true heart of the home. Through careful planning and curated
furnishings these spaces evolve into environments that
feel both luxurious and welcoming.
My design style blends elevated comfort with timeless sophistication. I’m
drawn to spaces that feel collected rather than overly styled — where textures,
lighting, and thoughtful details create warmth and character without feeling
forced. Because ultimately, luxury isn’t about excess. It’s about how a space
makes you feel.

Specializing in Entertaining Spaces
In many homes, the rooms used most often are the ones designed least
intentionally. Basements become storage spaces. Living rooms feel disconnected
from how people actually gather. Dining areas are beautiful but rarely used.
I’ve found that when these spaces are designed with entertaining in mind,
the entire home begins to function differently.
A well-designed entertaining space might include:
• A custom home bar that becomes the go-to gathering spot
• A comfortable basement lounge designed for movie nights and relaxed evenings
• A dining room that feels warm and inviting rather than formal and unused
• Living areas arranged for conversation instead of just television viewing
When layout, lighting, furniture, and materials work together, the result
is a space that feels effortless to host in.
Guests feel comfortable. The homeowner feels proud of their space.
And the home begins to serve the lifestyle it was meant for.

My Approach to Designing Social Spaces
Every project begins with understanding how my clients actually live. The goal isn’t
simply to create a beautiful room — it’s to create a space that supports their lifestyle.
That process usually unfolds in several stages but starts with an in-home consultation.
Understanding the lifestyle
Do you host large gatherings or smaller intimate evenings? Do friends naturally
gather around the kitchen island, the bar, or the sofa? Do you have kids
or adults mainly in the space? Maybe you drink wine or bourbon or maybe
you are a coffee guru? Understanding these nuances helps guide the design.
Designing the layout and flow
Entertaining spaces work best when movement feels natural. Furniture placement,
traffic patterns, and sight lines all influence how people interact within
a room. Feeling cramped or scooting around furniture doesn't make for
an enjoyable encounter. Don't overdo an area with large pieces - or
too many small ones just so it feels full!
Layering materials and texture
Luxury is often found in subtle details — rich textiles, natural woods,
layered lighting and thoughtfully selected finishes that create depth and
warmth without even realizing. These are the ultimate flex in luxury spaces.
Creating atmosphere through lighting
Lighting can transform a room completely. A well-designed entertainment space
includes layered lighting: ambient, task, and accent lighting that shifts
easily from daytime brightness to evening ambiance. Bright white lights
over 5000K lumens do not have a place in a residential home. This isn't Wal- Mart!
Curating furnishings and finishing touches
The final step brings personality into the room — furnishings that feel both
elevated and comfortable, artwork that adds interest, and accessories that
create a sense of completion - all tailored to your home & lifestyle.
When these elements come together, a space doesn’t just look finished —
it feels right and your guests never want to leave!

Serving Indianapolis Areas and Center Grove
Raised in a small Indiana community & as a Ball State Grad I call Indianapolis my home. I
work with homeowners throughout all of Indianapolis and the surrounding
southside communities, including Center Grove.
I have built my roots on the southside where I raise my kids and get involved with
the community. As a serial hostess myself I can attest to
the challenges families face when trying to create a social space that meets
the needs of everyday life but can then transition into a social gathering place
for family & friends. Many of my clients come to me during remodels, basement
renovations, or when they want to elevate the current entertaining spaces of their
home. Through thoughtful design and collaboration, we create spaces that feel
both beautiful and deeply personal.
If you are considering transforming a space in your home reach out to Urban Sly to discuss a collaboration and allow us to take the lead on your next project.
Cheers, - Mindy
